Inclusion & Community Building
At Goulston & Storrs, diversity, equity, and inclusion aren’t buzzwords—they’re part of how we think, lead, and build relationships. When people with different lived experiences come together, we ask better questions, challenge assumptions, and create smarter solutions. That’s not just good for our clients—it’s essential to our culture.
Many of our colleagues come from underrepresented backgrounds, and they’ve helped shape this firm from every seat at the table. But we know representation alone isn’t enough. We’re intentional about recruiting, developing, and advancing lawyers from diverse communities—and making sure they have access to meaningful work, mentorship, and leadership opportunities. We invest in ongoing education, host guest speakers, and create space for honest conversations about what inclusion looks like in practice—not just in theory.

Our commitment extends to the communities we serve. In 2023, we launched Building Equity™, an initiative to create inclusive opportunities in private development projects for people from underrepresented groups, including people of color, women, and members of the LGBTQ+ community. By addressing barriers such as access to capital, mentorship, and top-tier partnerships, Building Equity™ offers:
- Introductions that increase access to debt/equity capital and business opportunities
- Creative fee arrangements to help participants manage legal costs while growing their businesses
- Educational programming to expand participants’ knowledge and expertise
- Opportunities for mentorship, networking, and sponsorship
We also proudly sponsor The Builder Coalition (TBC), which promotes access, diversity, and economic well-being in Boston’s real estate sector.

We’re proud to have earned a perfect score on the Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s Corporate Equality Index and a spot on its “Best Places to Work for LGBTQ Equality” list. We’ve also been longtime participants in Diversity Lab’s Mansfield Certification, which helps ensure that underrepresented professionals have real pathways to leadership.
And in line with our Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) policy, we do not support non-religious organizations that discriminate based on sexual orientation or gender identity.
Inclusion Is A Daily Practice
We don’t see inclusion as a milestone—it’s a mindset. It’s how we show up for each other, how we hold ourselves accountable, and how we keep growing. At Goulston & Storrs, we’re building a workplace where people feel seen, supported, and empowered to lead.
